Cause of Chest Pain on the Right-Side of Chest

Chest pain is any discomforting pain that you many feel anywhere in the front portion of your body between your neck and upper abdomen. Other alternative names used for this discomfort are chest pressure, chest tightness, and chest discomfort. The first thing that comes to the mind of any individual suffering from chest pain is that they are having a heart attack. It is certainly not advisable for you to avoid chest pain, along with it; it should not even cause alarm either since it may not be as serious as you think it may be.

In fact, there are many people who are suffering from chest pain and this pain has nothing to do with your heart. There many different causes of chest pain that may include problem with your ribs, lungs, muscles, nerves, esophagus, etc. While certain conditions of this disorder can be life-threatening and others aren’t. In case if you notice any such unexplained frequent pain in the chest then, you must see a doctor for further evaluation so that the doctors can confirm the cause.

You can notice chest pain on any upper part of your body i.e. from the neck to the upper abdomen. Here are some of the common physical symptoms that you may experience as a result of right-side chest pain; inflaming

  • Difficulty in swallowing
  • Inflaming sensation behind the breastbone and in the chest
  • Noticing pain in the chest while changing positions or moving your body
  • Bad taste of mouth due to acidity reflux
  • Experiencing pain while breathing, particularly when lying down
  • Stabbing pain in the back
  • Sensation of squeezing, crushing, or tight

Causes of Pain in the Right Side of Chest

1. Heart Problem

At times pain on the right-side of the chest that points-out cardiovascular problem such as heart-attack, angina, Coronary Artery Dissection or myocardiopathy.

2. Lung Problems

The right lung and the bronchus (breathing tube) are located in the right of the chest cavity. Other lung related diseases that may cause chest pain includes pneumonia, pneumothorax, pulmonary embolus, asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, trigger chest pain, pulmonary hypertension, tuberculosis infection, cancer, etc. which results in sharp pain that worsens while inhaling.

3. Gastrointestinal Problems

Burning sensation in the gallbladder is known as Cholecystitis, which occurs if a gallstone is blocking the cystic duct. Individual may notice pain in the upper right-side of abdomen or chest causing the feeling of fullness due to gallbladder diseases. Therefore, the person may have to undergo a severe pain in the right-side of the chest and abdominal region. If there is anything going seriously wrong with the gallbladder then there are high chances of experiencing pain in the chest and abdominal region, to the right side of the chest. An ultrasound check on the bladder will help you diagnose the exact causes. Other complications that may occur are; esophageal hypersensitivity, esophageal rupture, peptic ulcer, pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, etc.

4. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)

Indigestion is the common reason for GERD. This may result into heartburn and chest pain.

5. Liver Problems

Liver inflammation is a condition which is also known as hepatitis and may become the major cause of this kind of pain. Due to this the person may experience the pain in his right shoulder, right-side ribs, or in the back. Hepatitis are majorly classified in 2-types –

  1. Chronic hepatitis (that lasts for more than 6 months)
  2. Acute hepatitis (last less than 6 months)
